DESPITE a disastrous weekend visit to Rochdale, Paul Ince isn't losing sleep over Macclesfield's relegation predicament as he is confident his side's form at home will see them through.

Before Tuesday night's visit of Bristol Rovers, the Silkmen had lost just one of 12 matches at the Moss Rose.

With Macc and Wrexham playing their games in hand on Tuesday night, a Macclesfield win at home to Bristol Rovers, coupled with a defeat for the Dragons at Shrewsbury, would guarantee Ince's team at least 22nd spot, by virtue of Wrexham and Boston United meeting on May 5.

"Hopefully our home form and confidence will continue. A lot can still happen though. At this stage, playing any team is a hard game. It's all up in the air and it's going to be a massive game for us," said Ince.

"They're all hard games. It's still all up in the air and, while it's exciting for the fans, believe me, it's not when you're involved.

"We'll have our fingers crossed for the Accrington game. Hopefully we'll be safe by Saturday and we can play six at the back."

Stanley boss John Coleman has been through similar away-day disappointments recently as he looks to steer his side to safety. He said: "It's going to be tough, because they're fighting for their lives as well.

"We're not dead and buried yet. We've got to go and get something against Macclesfield on Saturday. It's going to be a nervy week and we've got to get it right."

Ince needs his players to rebound after the Rochdale defeat, just as they did to return from the 4-1 hammering at Boston to win the derby at home to Stockport County.

He added: "It was very, very disappointing on Saturday, and a catalogue of individual errors. But we've got a chance to rectify that. I'd like to apologise to the fans who, once again, were fantastic and kept singing to the end.

"Either we're not mentally focused or we're not brave enough, but it's very important that our future is in our own hands. From where we started off in October, it's nice to be able to go out and do it ourselves, without it mattering what other teams do.

"We've got to make sure we're bold and brave and stick to our game plan."
