BATTLING Macc earned a precious point at newly-promoted Burton Albion last Tuesday but will be disappointed not to have won.

They should have taken the lead on seven minutes when Colin Daniel cruised past four static defenders to release striker Ben Wright but the big forward failed to finish.

But Wright proved his value five minutes later when he nodded a speculative punt into the path of Emile Sinclair who scored at the second attempt past Polish keeper Artur Krysiak.

Burton equalised on 38 minutes when John McGrath found top scorer Greg Pearson with his back to goal.

Last season’s 18-goal man jinked beautifully into space before hitting his fourth of the season.

Macc’s best chance of stealing a winner in the second half fell to Nat Brown whose flying header nearly converted a John Rooney corner.

But the visitors had keeper Jon Brain to thank for preserving their point as he produced a succession of late saves to deny Robin Shroot, Pearson and Russell Penn.

At the death Wright might have stolen it but his powerful left-foot shot was well saved.
