Brian’s Taxis Macclesfield and District SFL: On a bitterly cold Easter Sunday morning one of only two games that was taking place on this holiday weekend saw the runaway leaders of the First Division, Golden Lion, thrash Fresh 16-0 at Windmill Street.

In what can only be described as a one-way game two players scored hat-tricks and a further two netted four.

Unsurprisingly Lion took the lead early on and never looked back. It was a shame for Fresh who never recovered from that early blow but to their credit they continued to try and play football, they were just overrun by the Lion machine.

By half-time Golden Lion were leading 6-0 and it became about how many more they could score in the second half.

The second half continued as the first with the Lion dominating play and scoring 10 more to make the final score 16 -0.

Wilkinson and Harrison scored four goals each, with Collins and Gibbons contributing trebles.

Macker and Walker accounted for the others on a day when it all fell nicely for the Lion.

In the Premier Division, two title contenders clashed as Pack Horse hosted Queens Macclesfield at Mary Dendy.

Typically this has been a close fixture but on this occasion Pack dominated and ran out 7-0 winners.

Pack made the perfect start with two early goals from Tom Dean, followed by a cross-shot from Lee Malkin that looped into the goal.

Dave Short came closest for Queens, striking the bar with a ferocious free kick from 20 yards out.

Pack had gone into the half-time break three goals to the good and the scoring didn’t stop there as more came in the second period.

Dean completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot, Malkin struck again and once Harry Wheatman came on as a substitute he got in on the act.

His second – a superb volley from 20 yards – was the pick of the bunch.

Pack’s win was their ninth straight in the league and it extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
