MACC Town’s poor run of results continued as they went down to a fifth consecutive defeat at manager Keith Alexander’s former club on Tuesday.

The Silkmen could not be faulted for their work rate, but they were undone by the skill of Lincoln winger Dany N’Guessan.

On 27 minutes, the Frenchman’s fine cross was knocked back by Anthony Elding for Adrian Patulea to head home what proved to be the winner.

In truth, there was little to choose between the teams with Alexander’s off-form men again drawing a blank, despite creating a number of chances.

Gareth Evans, who battled on his own up front, for the first hour, was unlucky early in the second half when he was twice denied by Lincoln keeper Rob Burch.

Macclesfield introduced Emile Sinclair and Simon Yeo to offer more attacking options with Danny Thomas also putting in an appearance.

Facing his former club, Yeo (pictured left) had a great chance to level the game with his first touch. He struck the ball well from 20 yards but was denied by an excellent save from Burch.

Nat Brown then rose at the far post to meet a corner but headed wide.

At the other end the Silkmen allowed Lincoln few chances until the closing stages when they were caught out pushing forward for the equaliser.

Jonny Brain in the visitors’ goal was kept busy in the final half-hour. He saved a long range effort from Sam Mullarkey in the 65th minute after the defence opened up.

N’Guessan came close after a fine solo run 10 minutes from time, and Brain pulled off a good save to deny Elding’s headed effort.
