SILKMEN defender Matt Carragher returned to full training this week - but admits ités going to be tough to find a place back in Brian Hortonés starting line-up thanks to the form of youngster Michael Briscoe.

The 28-year-old sweeper has been sidelined since the clubés pre-season tour of Scotland thanks to a stress fracture of the shin, but should be back in contention by next weekés home game against Darlington.

"All being well ités just a matter of time, a few more days of training and a couples of games under my belt," Carragher told us.

"The team have been doing well. I have seen Mike (Briscoe) a couple of times and although sweeper isnét his natural position, heés been outstanding so far."

Carragher has had a tough road back to fitness after the painful fracture, which he had mistakenly put down to general wear and tear during pre-season.

He said: "I played at Congleton in pre-season and one of the games in Scotland, but by the end of it I told the physio I couldnét take any more pain.

"To be honest, he wanted me to get it sorted earlier, but I was determined to get a good pre-season behind me and stake a claim for a place.

"We looked at the scans and talked to the consultants and they told me it was a stress fracture.

"Looking back I don't know how I played in the games or even trained."
