SOCCER: Exeter City 0 Macclesfield Town 0

The Silkmen are beginning to earn themselves a reputation for having one of the best defences around.

The goal-less draw at Exeter was their fourth shut-out this season but manager Gil Prescott will be concerned with six draws from 11 games.

Kevin Keen came in to replace Richard Eyre, while Chris Byrne was back in place of Karl Munroe.

The opening half was fairly tame as Macc shackled Exeter's livewire winger Geoff Breslam.

On attack, Keen and Paul O'Neill created chances for Kyle Lightbourne and Lee Glover, while Chris Tracey's shot was easily saved by keeper Arjam nan Husden.

Late on in the opening period, Lightbourne's powerful effort was well saved by van Husden, while Tracey's swinging shot was just wide of the post.

Macc's left midfielder had a 68th minute effort tipped on to the bar, before Rickie Lambert just couldn't reach a cross with the goal at his mercy.

The Silkmen could have lost all three points at the death as Chris Curran unleashed a shot which flashed narrowly over the bar.
