Wilmslow Wayfarers’ chances of beating the league leaders were ruined by persistent rainfall.

After dismissing Holmes Chapel for 83 with Luke Unsworth taking 5-35, James Bennett 2-5 and Joel Unsworth 2-15, Wayfarers looked on course for an easy victory with the score on 31-1.

However, showers finally saw a disappointing end to an important match.

Wayfarers second eleven lost away at Capenhurst. Moss Side man Khatteer Zeb (7-86) had the hosts in all sorts of trouble ably backed up by Dan Wright (2-42). However, Capenhurst

skipper Walking hit his side out of trouble to score 83 as the home side posted 221-9.

In response, Wayfarers started well with Bob Branagan (21) and Phil Mape (35) making useful contributions. A belligerent 59 from Sam Dawson saw the game tilt Wayfarers’ way, but a horrendous collapse saw the away side fall well short of the target ending on 149 all out.
