Another dismal performance from Wilmslow Wayfarers resulted in a home defeat at the hands of Frodsham.

Frodsham won the toss at Oakwood Farm and batted on a sunny Saturday but lost two early wickets, Anthony Mape taking both from his first spell.

Heston (57) came to the rescue, but the visitors went from 126-3 to 157-6, and eventually finished on 176 all out. Mape ended a fine spell with 5-46.

Wayfarers openers Rob Hassard and Bob Branagan never got the start they needed, and with a middle-order collapse it was left to Luke Unsworth (26) and Yousaf Bhamjee (36 not out) to show the way but it was all too late and Wayfarers ended on a disappointing 107.

It was the same result for the second team at Appleton as they also failed to reach their target.

In the second XI cup match at Kerridge on Sunday, rain prevented Wayfarers replying to a total of 177, so the game will be replayed next Sunday.
