Wilmslow Wayfarers completed a comfortable win at Old Parkonians last weekend.

Batting first, they reached a competitive 185-6 declared thanks to Robbie Hassard (63 not out) and Joey Unsworth (34) setting a good base.

Useful contributions from Ron Seal (26) and Martin Wright (24) gave Wayfarers good momentum into the second innings.

Parkonians started solidly in response, reaching 38-1. However, the seam of Luke Unsworth (3-24) and swinger Mike Schmidt (6-21) blew away the rest of the line-up as the hosts were bowled out for 94.

Wayfarers’ seconds secured an impressive win over Port Sunlight thanks to a superb all-round performance from man-of-the-match Matt Ladd.

Wayfarers were in trouble at 45-5, but Ladd scored a superb 50 with shots all around the ground.  Dan Wright (79) supported well as Wayfarers declared on 253-8.

Sunny Qureshi (8-44) ran riot through the Port Sunlight order but the lower order proved tricky to move until Ladd claimed the match-clinching wicket.

Wayfarers thirds beat second-placed Hartford.

Wayfarers made 150 with Matt Irwin (38) and Matthew Bonner (37) batting well.

Hartford fell just 15 runs shy of the target as Bonner completed a fine all-round game by taking three wickets.

Lindow held

Lindow were held to a draw in their match at Kingsley.

Batting first, Lindow openers Matt Mitchell and Matt Ramsden set a strong foundation as they put on 98 for the first wicket.

After Ramsden departed for 38 Mitchell continued to pile on the runs but a lethal spell for Kingsley’s Benjamin Stoddart?(5-16), who took four wickets in the space of four balls, turned the game on its head.

Once he’d ensured maximum batting points for Lindow Mitchell fell for 96 and the visitors closed on 182-9.

A steady stream of wickets ensured Kingsley were enver likely to trouble that total and with Toby Mullins unbeaten on 27 they saw out the game to finish on 113-8.

Wilmslow defeated

Wilmslow were defeated by four wickets in their game at Haslington.

The visitors batted first and made 150 with Tom Gledhill taking seven wickets and Steve Fulker top-scoring with 61.

Opener Jack Moran then steered Haslington to victory, unbeaten on 74 as they reached 152-6, Jags Narayanan taking three wickets for Wilmslow.
