Bolly tail wags in vital win

Timperley 81ao, Bollington 84-8 (Bollington won by two wickets) - BOLLINGTON'S lower order held their nerve at the death to seal a nail-biting win over Timperley.

The victory puts Bolly within just four points of relegation safety.

On a low and slow pitch the Bollington attack demolished their hosts line-up in the opening innings, with Abdul Aqeel (six for 52) and Mo Ali (four for 28) doing the damage to restrict Timperley to just 81 all out.

However, it was no easier for Bolly in reply. Wickets fell regularly, with captain Richard Hough incredulously given out hit wicket.

Only youngster Callum Rowe (pictured) got to grips with the challenging conditions, his 25 providing the spine of the innings. With eight wickets down, the game was still in the balance, and it took all the experience of wicketkeeper Ged McKernan to maintain his composure and nurse his side home to a two-wicket victory.

Bollington’s season now comes down to three crucial remaining games, with the make-or-break fixture perhaps being against nearest rivals Birkenhead Park.
