Poynton got their second straight win on the board, at the expense of their hosts Bramhall.

Poynton won the toss and elected to field first, and the opening bowlers of Chris Oake and overseas pro Rhys Burke bowled well and, had four catches been held, Bramhall would have been in massive trouble.

Bramhall made it to 110-3, but Poynton then had to break the dangerous partnership of former Cheshire batsmen Nick Cantello and Australian Sean O’Neill, but Burke removed both, well aided by his fellow seamers and the consistent off-spinner Rick Clark, who bowled well to take two wickets on a very flat pitch.

Burke completed the damage after some tail-end resistence with a hat-trick, clean bowling the last three batsmen. Dismissing Bramhall for a well under-par 195 on what was a decent wicket and lightning-quick outfield was a fine effort, particularly Burke who returned figures of 6-80.

Poynton set about their chase in a very positive manner, the new opening pair of Gould and Burke taking the score to 70 off only 11 overs.

Burke fell to Bell, to bring 17-year-old Josh Hampson to the crease, a revelation since joining the side four games ago.

His composed 30, alongside the free-scoring Gould, took the score to 110-1. Gould fell to Day for a well made 54. Poynton then stuttered losing Coram, Berzins and Hampson in quick succession,

However the evergreen Brian Kingham came to the crease and again showed composure under pressure, his 25 not out steering Poynton home.

He was well supported by Danny Williams and Clark with some destructive hitting at the end.
