Four wickets apiece for Poynton bowlers Rick Clark and Jon Hadley took Poynton to a 52-run victory at home to Cheadle.

The hosts batted first and, although opening batsman Rhys Burke was dismissed without scoring, number three batsman Josh Hampson scored 67 to steady the ship.

With support from Paul Gould (17) and Danny Williams (24), Hampson occupied one end and when he departed Poynton had reached 136-7.

Wicketkeeper Simon Dunn and Mark Coram then staged a 38-run stand to take the home side to a declared total of 174-7.

The Cheadle reply never really got into gear and, although Jack Ralston made 32 and Dan Brown 29, they were both dismissed by Hadley and few others made inroads intothe target.

Hadley ended with 4-18, Clark going for just 44 runs in 17.4 overs for his four wickets.
