Bollington put more pressure on the teams above them on Saturday with a 25-point home win against Heaton Mersey.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat on a good looking wicket.

Opener Bennett played some adventurous shots on his way to 44 and he was well supported by Williamson, who made 47.

However the Heaton Mersey side were undone by some fantastic bowling by Bollington spinner Stuart Plant whose 7-44 was the highlight of the day with the Heaton Mersey innings closing on 161 all out.

Bollington started well with an opening partnership of 116, Ged McKernan then went for 28. The next to go was Calum Rowe, who hit a tremendous 84.

That brought together Tom Groth and Tom Gower who then cruised Bollington to victory by eight wickets, both finishing on 20 not out.

Bollington’s Division One campaign sees them travel to Widnes on Saturday hoping to keep up their current form.
