The summer holidays played havoc with Wayfarers’ team selections this week, leaving both sides under strength, and as a result, both had defeats to Langley.

The first team lost by three wickets and the seconds by 82 runs in Cheshire Alliance League on Saturday.

The first XI batted first at Langley on a damp track after overnight rain, but could only manage 115 all out with Luke Unsworth top scorer with 35 and Rob Hassard 28.

In reply Langley started well but lost wickets to a accurate spell of bowling from James Bennett (5-36) but soon reached the target, ending on 116-7.

The second team invited Langley to bat at Oakwood Farm and they got off to a quiet start, as Matt Bonner (2-39) and Martin Wright (2-8) kept things under control and they ended on 146 all out.

The Wayfarers batting was lacking in experience and, although old hands Bob Branagan, John McIntyre and skipper Lee Weir kept things ticking along, they soon slumped to a disappointing 64 all out.
