Bollington’s recent run of good form ended with a 55-run home defeat to Bowdon, a side containing current Lancashire star Mark Chilton and former all rounder Simon Marshall.

Bolly skipper Matt Dawson won the toss and elected to bowl on a green looking track. The Bolly attack was weakened by the loss of leading wicket-taker Mo Jahangir so Toby Ward opened the bowling with Mo Ali and took two early wickets.

When Ali removed Chilton for just four Bolly were in a good position with Bowdon on 32-3 but Marshall and the experienced Jon Gray then put on a match-winning partnership of 182 as the Bolly attack toiled, Marshall finishing 118 not out and Gray also hitting 66.

Bowdon eventually declared in the 46th over on 224-4, with Ward taking 2-60, Ali 1-20 and Dawson 1-44.

In reply the Bolly innings lacked momentum as lots of batsmen got starts including Ged McKernan (22), Ali (27), and David Paterson (23).

Overseas player Tom Groth top scored with 41 but nobody was able to play that match winning – or even match saving – innings as Bolly were out for 169.
