BOLLINGTON lost for only the second time in the league this season as they went down to bogey team Sale.

Sale had completed the ‘double’ having beaten Bolly at the Recreation Ground earlier in the season.

Skipper Rick Hough lost the toss and was asked to bat on a difficult wicket.

The Bolly openers Hough and Calum Rowe were quickly back in the hut, a rare failure for the latter.

Martyn Knight and Tom Gower stabilised things until Gower went in an unlucky manner, the ball trickling onto his stumps after he had played a defensive stroke to give Sale opening bowler Hassan Khan his third wicket.

Knight quickly followed for 22 as did Abdul Aqeel, Mo Ali and Aldo Palazzo.

Carnage

Jamie Hough remained resolute among the carnage to record a season’s best 23 runs.

Tom Horsefield also added eight not out as Bolly were all out for a disappointing 109.

It was always going to be a mammoth task for Bolly to win the game with such a low score on the board and the Sale top order showed the application needed for the loss of just four wickets.

Khan following up his five wickets with an unbeaten 32. The wickets were shared between Aqeel, Ali and Rick Hough.

Bolly entertain Marple at The Rec next week and Alderley Edge away in the re-arranged Cheshire Cup quarter-final.
