Bollington took a winning draw from their trip to Cheadle Hulme on Saturday.

Choosing to bat, Bolly compiled a competitive 226-9 from their 50 overs with contributions throughout the innings from Calum Rowe (33), Tom Gower (39), Mo Ali (33) and Tom Horsfield (26) but the star of the show was Tom Barrass with a gritty 52 not out as he guided Bolly through to secure maximum batting bonus points.

In Hulme’s reply Ali removed opener Jordan Potts in the first over but the hosts’ skipper Adam Wilde looked in good form as he seized on anything loose on his way to a hard hitting 58 until he was bowled by opposing captain Matt Dawson.

Dawson then bowled number three Richard Battye for 37 and Phil Balderson for a duck but Cheadle Hulme, perennial draw specialists, dug their heels in to block out the rest of their innings to finish on 170-6, Dawson finishing with 3-32, Ali 2-27 and Horsfield 1-14.

On Sunday Bolly lost on the last ball of their Cheshire Shield semi-final at home to Sale.

Batting first Bolly posted 213 from 45 overs thanks mainly to Tom Gower (47) and Tom Groth (49).

In reply Sale were floundering thanks to Toby Ward’s excellent spell of 5-40 but their overseas player Andrew Michael smashed an unbeaten century as the visitors scraped home for the loss of nine wickets on the final ball.

Bolly welcome Bowdon to the Rec on Saturday.
