IT WAS a case of another day, another 25 points for Lindow, as stand-in skipper Andy Hume’s well marshalled troops recorded a convincing victory at home to Old Parkonians.

The visitors won the toss and batted first, hoping no doubt to repeat the formula used to beat Lindow on the first day of the season.

For a while it looked promising as the openers put on 24 until Bradshaw punctuated an erratic opening spell by trapping Hitchell in front for 11.

Walker, who hit a ton in the previous encounter, came in at three and set about trying to repeat the feat with some positive strokeplay.

The visitors took the score to 60 before Masud (1-32) struck the decisive blow, inducing Walker to bottom edge a pull into his stumps for 25, after which Lindow took the initiative.

Jonny Barratt found the pitch largely unresponsive to his spin but he removed Orr LBW and then Andy Hume (1-20) won another leg before decision to reduce the visitors to 97-4 in the 32nd over.

Bradshaw (4-40) and Barratt (2-40) then wore Parkonians down with the help of two run-outs, and the visitors were hustled out for a below-par 141 in 42 overs.

Lindow responded with a new opening partnership of Slinn and Peel, both of whom were dropped during the course of an eventful first 10 overs. Peel took his time to settle in, while Slinn was more assertive in his strokeplay before running himself out for 29, with the score at 37.

Dave Foreman came to the wicket and he pounced on anything even marginally loose as 75 were added in only 19 overs.

He was eventually run out for 49 after an unfortunate slip but the steadfast Jamie Peel continued Lindow’s progress and he and Ed Farmer saw Lindow home in the 36th over.

Peel’s unbeaten 46, with seven boundaries, was his highest score for the first XI.

Lindow’s eighth consecutive win maintains their significant lead at the top of the table.
