THE Laughton brothers continue to take the rowing world my storm after representing Great Britain at the world championships.

Earlier this year, the Lower Withington siblings made their international debuts on consecutive weekends. And now the dynamic duo have been at it again.

Will, 18, helped GB reach the final of the junior competition in Bradenburg, Germany, where the four-man crew finished just outside the medal positions in fourth place.

Older brother George, 20, was also in action last month as part of the British eight who came tenth in the under-23 tournament in Amsterdam, Holland.

"You always feel proud to be representing your country at any level," said elder brother George, in his first year competing at the highest level. "It's quite daunting but really gets the adrenaline going."

It caps a fantastic year for the Laughton lads, who are still very much new faces on the circuit. George added: "It was my first year 'trialing' and I've been really pleased how it has gone; I think I've ended up with 10 medals, while Will did a bit better and won 15."

The former King's School pupils have always row separately, but with Will due to move up an age group, that's about to change.

"I loved to row in the same team as Will," said George. "He will be too old for the juniors next year, so there will be an opportunity to row together.

"Mind you, we will also be competing against each other, which should be interesting!"
