Mid Cheshire League

BOLLINGTON Athletic took the derby honours in the Mid Cheshire League after they beat neighbours Poynton 3-2 at Mary Dendy Fields.

Sam Hadfield gave Poynton an early lead before striker Lee Malkin equalised from close range. Duncan Warrender restored the the visitors' advantage from a free-kick but, less than a minute later, Malkin punished more sloppy defending to level matters for a second time on the stroke of half-time.

It was always going to take something special to break the deadlock in the second half, and with 15 minutes remaining, Jono Campbell provided it when he scored sweetly on the half-volley to fire home and secure the points which helped the home side leap-frog Poynton into eighth spot.

In Division Two, Club AZ stormed to a 5-1 victory over strugglers Fearnhead, with Harry Wheetman bagging four times to ensure his side left with the points.

Poynton's second string's poor form continued in the Reserve Division as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Middlewich Town Reserves at Seddon Street. The London Road boys are now just four points off the bottom of the table.
