The announcement was made at the RYA Dinghy Show earlier this month, where the Cheshire club beat four other nationally selected finalists to come home with the trophy.
The award recognises the transformation that the club, situated on Redesmere Lake, Siddington, has undergone since 2013, when its future was uncertain.
Through the efforts of its committee and members, the club has, over the last three years, produced a long term development plan and undertaken a number of initiatives to improve the sailing area.
The clubhouse and outside areas have also undergone major refurbishments and improvements have been made to lakeside facilities, including easier access for less able bodied sailors and alterations to make the site more family friendly.
This has been done with a view to increase club participation, both on and off the water, and in training.
Stuart Campbell, the Club’s Commodore, said: “This fantastic achievement is a reflection of how the club has, and continues to grow from strength to strength each year.
“The focus of the club is now on the future, and we really hope to continue our fantastic recent progress.”
Adam McGovern of the Royal Yachting Association said: “I’m really happy for the club.
“They’re a well organised club, they’re involved in a lot of different projects, they’re a really inclusive club and they do a lot for both juniors and adults.
“We’ve worked closely with them to help them establish their sailing programmes, and they’ve proved to be a very self-sufficient club.
“They now have great infrastructures in place and sustainable models that will ensure the club thrives for a long time.”
The Trophy can be viewed at the Club’s next open day, Saturday 14th May.
