I'VE JUST spent an entire Sunday afternoon writing out over a 100 Christmas cards. I don't mean conveyor belt style 'Best Wishes, I'm talking personal messages on each and every card. It's not a chore; I love it. It's an opportunity to appreciate good friends let those less fortunate know that someone cares.

I'VE NEVER been on a fox hunt, never really wanted to, so in theory the hunting ban won't affect me and although I train gundogs I don't actually shoot so it's all the same to me whether my dogs retrieve ducks or canvas dummies. So why should I care? Well, I might not if those eager to ban all country sports were as committed to the upkeep of the countryside as the participants.
