Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 18 April 2007
I SPENT much of last weekend reading through my mailbag. It was a lot of fun.

542. ‘We should expect some respect for Stephen Oake’

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 11 April 2007
I THINK anyone who knows me would say I'm a pretty positive person but sometimes I despair. Let's be honest, we are not really awash with heroes are we?

543. Everyone loves the sound of my voice

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 18 April 2007
I DON'T know why I never made it big on the radio, seems like everyone loves my voice. Each time I make a phone call it has to be recorded 'for training purposes'. So far I've 'trained' British Telecom, HSBC, National Power, AOL, Prudential Insurance, Tesco Direct, Toyota, HM Customs and Excise and several minor companies (less than 1000 employees) that don't justify a mention.

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 18 April 2007
TRAVELLING through Spain recently I was struck by the amazing architecture in some of their historic towns and cities. Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 December 2004
I'VE JUST spent an entire Sunday afternoon writing out over a 100 Christmas cards. I don't mean conveyor belt style 'Best Wishes, I'm talking personal messages on each and every card. It's not a chore; I love it. It's an opportunity to appreciate good friends let those less fortunate know that someone cares.

549. The ban on hunting could leave all of us with plenty of things to grouse about

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 December 2004
I'VE NEVER been on a fox hunt, never really wanted to, so in theory the hunting ban won't affect me and although I train gundogs I don't actually shoot so it's all the same to me whether my dogs retrieve ducks or canvas dummies. So why should I care? Well, I might not if those eager to ban all country sports were as committed to the upkeep of the countryside as the participants.

550. Let’s know our officers by their first names

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 12 January 2005
Labour Councillor Steven Carter says Macclesfield MP Nick Winterton is wrong to criticise Cheshire Police, but if Sir Nick's postbag is anything like mine he has no option but to voice the views of his constituents.
