1. Refreshing honesty in world of lying, malingering yobs

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 29 June 2005
MACCLESFIELD magistrates must have been stunned when 60-year-old Adrian Slater appeared before the court.

2. Not everyone’s ready to be sold my pup!

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 29 June 2005
WHEN our puppies went to their new homes they all left on the same day, all that is, except little Tally. Tally was the smallest in the litter and at puppy-picking had sat trembling in a corner. No-one chose Tally.

3. Why Vic won’t be at Live8

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 22 June 2005
AS A young wolf cub I collected donations in little buff envelopes imprinted with haunting images of starving African children. In primary school I urged my parents to give money for starving African children. At high school I collected bottle tops to help starving African children. I even hectored my workmates into supporting a scheme for 'adopting' starving African children.

4. The Learning Zone conflict exposes the hypocrisy of our planning regulations

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 22 June 2005
LET ME be absolutely clear I am in favour of improved educational facilities, whatever the Local Education Authority chooses to call them. Like every sane person in the borough I want the best for our children. What I also want are the same rules applied evenly to everyone.

5. Greetings to the new MBC mayor

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 June 2005
I AM delighted to see Coun Norman Edwards has finally been (is it 'crowned' or 'anointed?') Mayor of the Borough. Mr Edwards and I haven't always seen eye to eye (now there's a surprise) but no-one could fail to be impressed by his lifelong commitment and dedication to the public good.

6. New show homes are a cheap trick

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 June 2005
THE WHOLE point of Macclesfield Borough Council holding a ballot is to assess opinion and when it comes to the mass sale of council houses one would expect it to be carried out with the utmost care.

7. Very desperate housewives

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 1 June 2005
I LOVE living in Cheshire. I love the people, the landscape and yes, even the climate. Speaking as one who has lived and worked in Florida continuous summer does become a bore (honest).

8. Poynton parents set a terrible example

Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 1 June 2005
WHEN my son was small we spent many Saturday afternoons watching football. We had a lot of fun until the behaviour of 'fans' and players became so abhorrent that I took my son away never to return.
