11. Dogs and kids thrive on dose of discipline
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 5 April 2006AS A committed trainer I always watch It's Me or the Dog on Channel Four, in which a female presenter has the unenviable task of restraining crazy dogs.
12. Healthy eating is so ho-hum
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 8 March 2006MRS B has decided I should eat more healthily, which so far involves a set of very trendy bathroom scales and a total rethink of my traditional diet. Gone are the bacon butties, replaced by something gathered from the bottom of a budgie's cage.
13. No big screen for very small minds
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 22 February 2006YOU may have noticed I have abandoned my seven year long cinema campaign. Cineplex UK gave us our best chance back in 1999 when they submitted plans for a six-screen theatre complex at Lyme Green. Labour members of Macclesfield Borough Council thought it a wonderful idea, which virtually guaranteed it would never happen.
14. The art of taking offence
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 February 2006I DEMAND the right to be offended. Don't ask me what about, I haven't decided yet. I just want to take offence. In an era when everyone takes umbrage against anything I feel like I'm missing out.

17. Not everyone’s ready to be sold my pup!
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 29 June 2005WHEN our puppies went to their new homes they all left on the same day, all that is, except little Tally. Tally was the smallest in the litter and at puppy-picking had sat trembling in a corner. No-one chose Tally.
18. Try to think like a dog
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 2 February 2005AS a committed dog trainer I was rather disturbed to hear the RSPCA pleading with new owners to take their dogs to a training class.
19. The ban on hunting could leave all of us with plenty of things to grouse about
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 15 December 2004I'VE NEVER been on a fox hunt, never really wanted to, so in theory the hunting ban won't affect me and although I train gundogs I don't actually shoot so it's all the same to me whether my dogs retrieve ducks or canvas dummies. So why should I care? Well, I might not if those eager to ban all country sports were as committed to the upkeep of the countryside as the participants.
20. Age concern? What about me!
Macclesfield Express, Wednesday 3 November 2004I FLEW to Tennessee last week to compete in a US Retriever Trial. I took a couple of my own Labradors and was assured they would be well looked after in the pressurised section of the cargo hold.
