A Woman claimed almost £7,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

Bogumila Jeziorska, 34, failed to notify authorities that her partner was living with her at her address on Briarwood Avenue, Macclesfield.

That meant that she benefited by £6,965.67 in social security payments and council tax reductions from the government.

But fraud detectives from Cheshire East Council found that she was actually living with the father of her child.

She admitted two charges of failing to notify the authorities of a change in circumstances while appearing at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday (February 25).

The court heard that the she was voluntarily paying back £340 a month.

Jeziorska was fined £80 and told she must pay £525 to the courts.

Louise Aldridge, defending Jeziorska, said: “When the claims for benefits started they were legitimate. Then her boyfriend moved in with her and she failed to notify the authorities. The relationship is now over and he has moved in with his mother. “These proceedings are not something she has taken lightly.”
