Patrols are being increased in a bid to stop illegal raves after a gathering of hundreds of young people.

Officers at Macclesfield Police have warned they will be keeping an eye on any suspicious activity to stop any illegal parties this weekend.

It comes after an incident earlier this year when up to 200 youngsters were partying in a field near Dairy House Lane in Woodford until 6am. The rave kept residents awake and officers from Cheshire Police, alongside officers from Greater Manchester Police, attended after 999 calls from several miles away complaining of loud music.

Officers from Macclesfield police have warned they are ready to shut down any plans for more illegal raves this weekend, particularly after schools broke up this week for the summer holidays.

They tweeted this week: “Any illegal rave planned for Woodford this weekend will be dealt with via dispersal powers and potential arrests.”

Inspector Catherine Mitchell said officers are keeping an eye on the situation.

She said: “Officers are monitoring the situation and have plans in place to address any events in the area.”
