A teenager exposed himself to a girl while wearing a woman’s green thong.

Kyron Joseph Surtees, 19, stalked his victim and repeatedly pulled down his trousers, a court heard.

He was later arrested still wearing the green thong carrying a bag containing several more pairs of women’s underwear.

Surtees, of Percival Street, Macclesfield, admitted exposure at Macclesfield magistrates’ court and was sentenced to a community order with supervision and 100 hours unpaid work.

He must also sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

The court heard that Surtees was seen acting bizarrely by a woman walking to work along Commercial Road on June 4 at 9am.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “The witness saw a female walking and a male behind her. When they were 5m away her eyes were drawn to the male who she saw pull his jogging bottoms to below his knees. She noticed he was wearing thong-style women’s underwear.

“She was shocked. He made eye contact with her but didn’t say anything. She was concerned for the lone female and watched as the defendant followed her towards the underpass. He was only one foot behind the girl and was lowering his bottoms.”

She made her way to work and called the police.

The court heard that at 10am the same day police were called to a shop in Macclesfield town centre after reports of a man behaving suspiciously.

Mrs Byrne added: “The defendant was stopped by police carrying a Marks and Spencers bag which contained several pairs of women’ thong-style underwear of different colours.

During a search he was found to be wearing a green thong.

“During interview Surtees told police he had done it to escape his own head. He described his actions as ‘a release valve’. He said it was funny and not for sexual kicks.”

Toby Wilbraham, defending, said Surtees had an argument with his dad the night before, had not slept and drank a bottle of vodka.

He added: “With that combination of events it was like an explosion, a volcano in his head. To say he is extremely ashamed and embarrassed is a gross understatement.”

Sentencing, Tony Bostock, chair of the bench of magistrates, said: “You are deeply ashamed and right you should be.”
