Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision involving a teenage pedestrian and two cars - one of which fled the scene.

Officers were called to Park Lane, Poynton, on Tuesday at 7.35pm after the accident left the 18-year-old injured.

The two cars involved were a silver Volkswagen Golf and a black BMW, the latter of which had left the scene, near the Waitrose store.

The teenager, who is from Poynton, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

It is believed he had been walking with a dog that was also injured and taken to the vets.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man on Wednesday and a spokesman said he was assisting officers with their enquiries.

The spokesman added: “Officers attended and found the black BMW had left the scene.

“The pedestrian involved in the collision, an 18-year-old man from Poynton, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital.
