More than 1,000 pupils came together to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

Students from Tytherington School and Macclesfield College paid tribute during Armistice Day to the soldiers who fought in the conflict.

At Tytherington, staff and students read war poetry and played music. Pupils also made their own poppies and became code breakers in German.

The students also posted their own messages on a special ‘glass wall of remembrance’.

BTEC Performing Arts pupils at Macclesfield College performed short dramatic pieces and interpretative dance routines about those who had suffered in the First World War. At 11 o’clock the college observed a two-minute silence.
