Biker fights for life after smash

April 27, 2007

A MOTORCYCLIST is fighting for his life after a collision with two cars in Newhey.

The man, in his 20s, is being treated for a serious head injury and internal bleeding at Hope Hospital's intensive care unit after being thrown from his Kawasaki machine.

Thursday's crash, which also involved a Vauxhall and a Peugeot car, led to Shaw Road being closed at the junction with Huddersfield Road for over two hours. The other drivers escaped without injury.

Anyone who witnessed the accident, which happened at about 5.30pm, is asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 8473.

Comment for MARK, Big D one of the most safe riders that I know, everytime we went out on the bikes he always looked out for me, apart from being a novice rider I was also his girlfriend at the time an I find your comments very offensive. Its not the bikers its every other idiot on the road. My prayers go out to Big D and his family

Get well soon my friend.. we miss you "big" lad. As to other comments about bikes.. I ride with this guy every week end. we are not kamikazi bikers we have famlies we are real people. Accidents happen wether it be on bikes, trains planes and automobiles and even the odd pedestrian makes a mistake.

over 70% of bike accidents that involve a car or other vehicle , are caused by the driver , rather than the rider . ...

bike riders and bike clubs together make far much more money for charity than any other vehical users , so good on all you bikers out there.
