JAMMED: The Toyota car which hit Robert Heapy’s newsagent shop.

HOLD the front page! Astonished customers buying their morning papers at a local newsagents created their own headlines when a red Toyota Yaris ended up in the front of the shop building before their very eyes.
Two customers and owner Robert Heapy were in R&A News on Hurdsfield Road just before 9am last Thursday, when the two-door hatchback slammed into the door frame.
Miraculously everyone, including the driver, a woman from Macclesfield, escaped unhurt - although the door frame and window shutters were damaged on impact.
Mr Heapy, speaking shortly afterwards, said he was unsure what had caused the car to spin off the road and into his shop front.
He said: "I was actually serving in the shop at the time when we heard the impact. There were three of us in the shop. It was a bit of a shock, to say the least. But, thankfully, no-one was hurt. The car apparently spun round and went straight into the door. But we're still working and we're still open.
"I just need to sort out the doors and the shutters - which is a bit of a pain, because I am here on my own today and I've got customers."
Police said there was no danger of the building collapsing and no road closure. The incident was cleared by 9.30am.
