Medal of honour for brave Ryan

AN AMAZING 13-year-old has achieved a top Scouting honour despite battling serious illness.
Ryan Thorley, a pupil a Fallibroome High School, is a member of the First Hurdsfield Scouts.
He has been presented with a meritorious conduct award in recognition of his bravery and commitment to the Scouts despite suffering from bone tumours.
Ryan has just completed his final course of radiotherapy and is on the road to recovery.
He lives with his foster parents Peter and Denise Trueman on Nicholson Avenue and Denise said: "We are so proud of him. Even after all his treatments he has just bounced back and his latest achievement is just amazing."
Ryan completed a camping trip to Scotland last summer with the Scouts where he did traditional camping, cooking and gorge walking.
He is now looking forward to doing more expeditions this year as well as continuing at school, where his favourite subject is music.
He said: "I didn't expect the award at all but I was really pleased when I got it and now I'm just looking forward to continuing with the Scouts."
