Girl riders join spectacle for Queen Elizabeth

IT was a magnificent once in a lifetime show, and two Macclesfield pony riders were part of the breathtaking performance.

Angharad Sims - known as Hari to all her friends - and Rosie Burrows were both selected to take part in All The Queen's Horses, a special stage show for the Queen to mark her Golden Jubilee.

Hari, a member of the East Cheshire Branch of the Pony Club, was accompanied by her seven-year-old pony Jazz.

The 14-year-old from Chelford Road, Siddington, is trained by Emma and Brian Lloyd and said she wasn't nervous at all on the big day.

"It was absolutely fantastic," she said.

"There wasn't any time to be nervous, there was so much going on. I just had to get on with it."

Hari travelled to the show, which was held at Windsor Castle, from the Hunter Trials in Peterborough which she took part in earlier that day.

"I was absolutely shattered," she said. "But I really enjoyed myself. It was a great experience."

Rosie, 12, and pony Chico also took part in the show and the Henbury High pupil said: "It was the most fantastic thing I have ever taken part in.

"It was such an honour to ride in front of the Queen."

All The Queen's Horses featured more than 1,000 horses and 2,000 men, women and children.

The entire show will be televised on BBC1 on Sunday, June 2.
