Not any old rubbish

27/12/2001

IT started as a load of old rubbish but the finished product was something to be proud of.

Pupils at Ash Grove Primary School on the Moss Estate have been working with the Groundwork Trust to learn the importance of recycling rubbish.

Following a trip to the Danes Moss tip, the children made puppets out of rubbish and put on a play based on the theme of using the earth's resources usefully.

The play was performed in an assembly in front of the Mayor of Macclesfield Councillor Muriel Clampett.

Dorothy Hulley, headteacher at the school, said: "The children had a great time making the puppets.

"It was a very interesting project and the play went very well.

"The children even performed the play for the pupils at Ryles Park, it was a lot of fun."
