Parrot could be deceased

A TERMINALLY-ill mum-of-three fears the worst for her health after her singing parrot flew off one month ago and hasn't been seen since.

The African Grey who sings 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' to cheer up cancer-battling Christine Rowson, 61, escaped out of the back door leaving his mummy devastated.

The Congo native, who greets the grandmother-of-three with a chirpy 'hello' when she gets up and a 'are you all right sweetheart?' after painful hospital treatment, was last sighted in Kerridge.

Married former carer, Christine, of Brynmore Drive, Hurdsfield, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2003, tearfully said: "Charlie keeps me going and this has really set me back - I don't know what will happen if he doesn't come back.

"He was my lifeline after chemotherapy and I can't tell you how much he means to me - please help me find him."

The four-year-old parrot, whose breed can live for up to 50 years, flew out of the back door of the family's home on March 12, and headed towards Buxton Road.

The red-tailed South American native, who has a vocabulary of 200 words, has since been sighted by a group of builders on Buxton Road and Christine even saw Charlie herself in a tree on Black Road - but he was too scared by the traffic to fly down into her arms.

The last two positive sightings were at Endon Quarry in Kerridge last week but the trail has gone a little cold since then.

Former carer, Christine, desperately wants her Charlie back so he can sing Monty Python classics and raise her spirits.

She said: "I miss him so much. He cheers me up like no-one else can - please come home Charlie."

Charlie has a grey upper body and a red tail and the family are offering a reward for his safe return - if anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact 01625 410729.
