Police in fresh appeal over two sex attacks

POLICE have made a fresh appeal for any information about two sex attacks which took place in Macclesfield earlier this month.

On Thursday, June 12, a schoolgirl was indecently assaulted in broad daylight by a man she met in an internet chat room.

The two met up on the Moss Estate, and were walking down a footpath off Western Avenue, between 4.30pm and 4.45pm, when the assailant pushed her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her.

Detectives said the attacker was white, in his early 20s, well built, with short, dark brown hair.

He was wearing a blue jacket with a shirt and tie underneath, and black trousers.

On Sunday, June 8, a woman was indecently assaulted at knifepoint at around 2.30am on Queen Street, in the town centre near Macclesfield Train Station.

Her assailant dragged her into bushes at the junction with Davies Street.

He was described as in his 20s, with a medium build, bright blue eyes, bleached blond hair and a pale complexion.

He was wearing a black hooded top with the word "football" on the front, and black jogging bottoms with two blue stripes on each outside leg.

Police said the two attacks are not connected, and inquiries are ongoing.
