JANET is married with two grown up children and works in computer systems for a local Pharmaceutical company. Born in Macclesfield she has lived on West Ward for 50 years and has served the people of Macclesfield as a Borough Councillor for the last 17 years.

Active in the local community, Janet is a member of the Civic Society, Silkscreen Film Society and serves on the board of the Museums Trust.

She is a school governor at Ivy Bank Primary School and fully supports the excellent work done by the teachers and support staff despite the recent threat to cut class sizes.

Janet is experienced in planning and is a member of the Town Centre Re-Development Panel where her priority is to protect the character of Macclesfield and ensure that it’s heritage is retained.

As a member of the Environment Policy Committee, Janet takes a keen interest in "green" issues and is the environment spokesperson for the Labour group. She is pushing for the Council to introduce kerbside collection of plastics and produce further measures to cut their own CO2 emissions. Janet fully supports on the spot fines for dropping litter and dog fouling and will be seeking to improve street cleaning .

In partnership with the police, Janet attends the Community Action Team meetings which give residents the opportunity to influence policing strategy in the area. She will be pushing for more Police Community Support Officers for West Ward to reduce anti-social behaviour.
