APART from some periods spent abroad, Diana has lived with her family in Disley since the 1960s. She plays an active part in local affairs, serving on the scout committee and leading the local branch of East Cheshire Hospice. She has been a Disley Parish Councillor for nine years some of which time has been as chairman.
Diana was elected to Macclesfield Borough Council two years ago and has gained a breadth of experience by serving as Lead Member for Housing and by being on the Environment Committee. She has also served as a board member of Cheshire Peaks and Plains. In her second year she has chaired the Resources Policy Committee.
Diana, who has a doctorate in microbiology, takes a keen interest in education. Her involvement as a school governor began in Jakarta, Indonesia where she lived for a few years in the 1980s. She has been a governor of Disley Primary School for eleven years and chair of governors for the last seven. Diana is therefore very familiar with the problems which schools face in coping with regulations and in operating within tight budgets. If elected, Diana hopes to put this experience to good use in the educational affairs of Cheshire East Council.
