I HAIL from Staffordshire where, in my early career, I gained invaluable political experience by working for my local Conservative constituency office as personal assistant to the parliamentary candidate.
He won the seat from a long-standing Labour MP and I continued to work for him until I emigrated to work in Africa. I returned 20 years ago and chose to settle in Macclesfield where my two grown-up daughters were educated.
Having retired last year, I would have plenty of time to devote to representing the interests of the residents of Macclesfield West. I feel that traditional values have gradually been eroded over time in today’s society.
The key areas I am interested in are efficient planning of road maintenance and pavement repairs, providing more facilities and diversions for young teenagers, addressing problems of the elderly, particularly security, clearing-up of rubbish and graffiti and enhancement of those areas in need of it. It’s about our life and the quality of our life.
Being a keen walker, I am very interested in the environment and its preservation.
I lead an active life, belong to a local walking group, and enjoy dancing and am currently learning French Jive. I am also a school governor at Whirley Primary School.
