BROKEN CROSS: David Pemberton (Lab)

18/ 4/2008

DAVID has lived for over 40 years in Macclesfield, currently living near the ward in which he is standing as a candidate. He regularly attends nearby Broken Cross Methodist Church.

Working as a landscape gardener David has a strong interest in the environment and wants to see the Council recycling more materials.

He fully supports the Labour commitment to improve our local environment by increasing recycling targets and provide a comprehensive kerb-side recycling collection, including plastic, glass and bulky household items.

To improve the appearance of our neighbourhood he would give greater priority to cleaning our streets and reducing litter, graffiti, and fly-tipping.

He supports the Friends for Parks initiative and would seek to involve young people in decision-making about new facilities for sports and leisure.

David places considerable importance on parents choice of a good local community school for their children and the Labour commitment to also ensure that there is proper support for the work of the Children's Sure Start Centres, introduced by the present Government.

The elderly and disabled would also be a top priority for David and he would press for   significant reductions in charges for Home Care and Day Centre transport and ensure that the Health Service and Council services co-operate to provide for the needs of older people.
