I AM a 69 years old widower with three adult children and two grandchildren.

I am a retired teacher and lecturer, having taught chemistry for over forty years in various Manchester schools and colleges.

I was also active in my professional association, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, serving as a school representative, Branch Committee member and delegate to Annual Conference.

I have been an active member of the Labour Party for around forty years and am currently the Chair of the Disley and Poynton Branch.

I have campaigned on many local issues such as NHS dentistry, Post Office closures and proposals for open-cast coal mining.

My main policy interests are in education, public transport and environmental issues such as the recycling of waste.
