BRIAN Puddicombe lives on Sherwood Road in the heart of Macclesfield Forest Ward. He is married and works in Macclesfield for a major Bank. He is a governor of St Edwards Primary School and a lay reader at St Edwards Church.

Brian has been a Councillor for Macclesfield South since 2003 and is Deputy Leader of Macclesfield Labour Group. Brian has a wealth of experience in dealing with issues on behalf of local people and knows the area well.

Since first being elected he has worked to bring together under one umbrella all groups working on the Moss Estate to improve the local provision of services for children and young people and is delighted to see the Children’s Centre being opened on the Ash Grove School site. Brian has worked with parents and school governors to oppose County Council plans to close local schools and says ‘I believe every child has the right to a quality education close to where they live’.

Brian has also worked with local Police Officers at Community Action Meetings to ensure the concerns of local residents about drug dealing and anti-social behaviour are acted upon and says ‘The Police have shown that they will not tolerate drug dealing and where the local community come forward with information they will take action’.

Brian has also campaigned for more affordable housing in Macclesfield and is pleased to see recent developments in Langley and proposed developments on the Maplewood site where priority will be given to local families.
