MY NAME is Simon Truss and I have lived in the Macclesfield Town Ward since the age of nine.

I am a Market Trader and stand on the Castle Street Outdoor Market on a Tuesday, selling books, DVD’s and videos. Having represented Macclesfield at Cricket, Football and Chess at various levels one of my great passions is the creation and expansion of youth facilities, sports teams and clubs in the Macclesfield area.

I believe more facilities and sports provision can bring Communities closer together and promote positive role models, helping to keep kids off the streets, boosting self-esteem and learning respect.

I believe if we had more facilities for Drug and Alcohol abuse we could help people to get back on the straight and narrow leading to less crime and feel that more Police Community Support Officers patrolling the area would be a good proposal.  Child care provision is another area I’m passionate about.

Improved Pavements and  Roads is a priority as I’ve lost count of the people who have fallen over close to my stall due to uneven pavements.  I’ll spare no time reminding the Council that Macclesfield exists outside of Prestbury and Wilmslow.

Macclesfield in my opinion is a big enough town to warrant a Multiplex cinema, I know the Heritage Centre does a great job but you should be able to view films at a local picture house.

I am young, keen, confident, hard working and will be easily accessible to the residents of the Ward.
