Moss Rose stand is damaged by fire

WHILE the Silkmen are finally catching fire on the pitch, the entrance to the McIlroy Stand offices was literally ablaze in the run-up to last weekend’s game.
Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and information after a fire crew was scrambled to the Moss Rose on Friday morning (March 14).
One of the ground staff arrived for work to find smoke damage and the smouldering remains of a fire near the ticket office doors and lobby area ,and the emergency services were called.
Patrick Nelson, chief executive of Macclesfield Town FC, said: "There was a fire caused in the lobby area. It was discovered by our kit man who came in at 8.30am but the fire was out by that time. We have no idea at the moment who did it, or how it happened."
Gareth Woods, head of Macclesfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: "At the moment we are looking at CCTV evidence, and investigating the causes of the fire ,and would urge anyone with information on the incident to contact us."
