Parents trying to revamp a play area are appealing for support in a fundraising event.
A group of mums and dads in Poynton want to raised £17,000 to develop the existing recreational area on Glastonbury Drive for future generations of young people.
Now they have been given a big chance to walk away with either £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 in Tesco’s Bags of Help campaign
The Glastonbury Drive scheme has been promised a grant and now needs your support to decide which one.
Shoppers at the supermarket’s stores at Fiveways, Portwood, Cheadle or Cheadle Hulme can vote for one of three competing schemes until November 13.
The cash will pay for two picnic areas at the south of the site, close to the entrance, plus a walking trail and a range of play equipment including a climbing unit.
There will also be two swing sets, benches and a new pair of goalposts.
Kate Willett, a mum of two and one of the fundraisers, said: “When I found out we had been selected for the grant I was so happy I could have cried.
“We have been working so hard to make this project come to life holding events and securing funding and donations of time from contractors and residents. We want to say thank you for your awesome support so far. But we still need your help. Until November 13 you will be able to vote for our project. So please, please help us breathe life into our Glastonbury Play Area project.”
Karen Bolton, mum of two and also a member of Glastonbury Drive Play Area Resident Association (GDPARA) added: “The extra £4,000 up for grabs will really make a huge difference to our playground and will benefit hundreds of families in Poynton. We have put the play area back on the map, but we want to finish what we have started and with your help we will be able to do it.”
