PLANS for 300 homes on green belt at King’s School’s Fence Avenue site have been approved by the council.

Members of the Strategic Planning Board have voted this afternoon to approve the application by the school for the new homes, by six members to five.

It’s part of a set of applications to allow a new King’s School to be built, on green belt at Alderley Road, Prestbury.

The school needs to build houses at Fence Avenue and its Cumberland Street campus to pay for the new school.

The new school application was approved earlier this afternoon but depends on approval of the applications for new housing both at Fence Avenue - and Cumberland Street, which is being discussed next this afternoon.

King’s School has applied to build up to 150 homes on the Westminster Road site which forms part of the Cumberland Street campus.

Councillors will take a final vote to approve the application for a new school build later this afternoon then all the applications will need to go to the Secretary of State for final approval.
