Footballers from primary schools around the town took part in a competition at Hollinhey Primary School.

Teams played in the 47th Macclesfield Primary Soccer Sevens, which is sponsored by Reliance Networks.

John Askey, Macclesfield Town Football Club manager, helped present the awards.

Kings School juniors and Rainow girls won their competitions and pupils took home trophies in penalty shoot-out competitions.

Sean Gooding from Reliance Networks, alongside district referees Mark Lee and Gregory Armitt also awarded Player of the Day Awards.

Sean said: “Both matches to decide third place were played as though the teams had reached the final with players and parents caught up in the emotion of the competition. The finals were fought out in a fantastic spirit.”

Caroline Massey, competition organiser and deputy headteacher at Hollinhey, said: “This long-running competition showcased the best in primary school football in an idyllic setting. Family and friends supported the finalists in a good-natured yet competitive manner. Congratulations to the players for such a fine demonstration of skills, teamwork and determination and a special mention to the teachers and coaches for giving pupils a great opportunity.”
