A family of trolls paid schoolchildren a visit as part of a creative writing workshop.

Children at Bosley St Mary’s Primary took part in the workshop with author Rachael Lindsay, who has written a series of books featuring a family of Norwegian troll characters. Rachael takes the trolls to schools to help bring her books to life and inspire children in their own creative writing.

She read stories to the children and signed her books. The pupils wrote descriptions based on her troll novels.

The visit was part of a series of activities to coincide with World Book Day.

Teacher Rachel Mortishire-Smith said: “World Book Day turned into a whole week of book fun, with special visitors from local libraries, Eaton Bank Academy and author Rachael Lindsay to inspire us to listen to, read and write more stories than ever.

“And, of course, we dressed up in our favourite book characters for a day.”

Staff dressed as the Where’s Wally character and Eaton Bank staff inspired pupils with a drama and writing workshop based on the witches scene from Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
