Pinocchio, Snow White and Rapunzel were among the characters filing into schools across Macclesfield today as part of World Book Day.

Children across the town proudly wore costumes depicting their favourite book characters as part of the fairytale day which is aimed at getting kids interested in reading.

The day has become a bit of a contest with the pressure on for parents to send kids off to school looking the part, getting their thinking caps on to help come up with the creations and children have shown their own creative flair to make handmade costumes.

And Express readers didn’t disappoint, with plenty of pictures of their adorable little ones in their proud creations.

Quirky costumes included Tristan Searle, five, as the tin man at Ash Grove Academy, Lilly Farden, four, from Broken Cross Primary as Little Miss Sunshine, Georgia Kelly, seven, as Veruca Salt at Ivy Bank Primary and Finlee-James Geale, six as the madhatter.
